Take back your privacy
Eraser sends data removal requests to 700+ data brokers on your behalf — the companies like Spokeo, BeenVerified and Whitepages that publish your address, phone number and relatives. Open source, free, and it runs on your own machine: requests go out from your mailbox, so no company ever holds your data. Incogni and DeleteMe charge $100+/year to do the same thing.
What it is
Data brokers collect names, addresses, phone numbers, relatives and device IDs, then sell or publish them. Privacy law gives you the right to make them stop: GDPR Article 17 in the EU, UK and EEA, and the CCPA / CPRA in California. A removal request is just a short, correctly worded email, but there are hundreds of brokers and each one wants it sent to a different address or form, and again every few months.
Eraser keeps the broker list, writes the request in the right legal wording for where you live, sends it through your own SMTP or mail account, and tracks each reply over IMAP. Everything stays in a local SQLite file and config on your machine. There is no account, no server of ours in the loop and no telemetry; this website counts visits and nothing else (see the privacy page).
How it compares
Paid services such as Incogni and DeleteMe do the same job for $100+ a year and hold your identity details on their servers. Eraser is MIT-licensed, free, and the broker list and request letters are in the open source repository, so you can check exactly what gets sent and to whom. The trade-off: it runs on your computer, and you stay in charge of the mailbox it sends from.
The broker directory has step-by-step opt-out guides for the biggest people-search, background-check and credit brokers, and works without installing anything.
How it works
- Enter your details once (locally).
- Eraser emails every broker a GDPR / CCPA removal request.
- It watches your inbox for replies and shows what still needs a click.
- Re-run every 60–90 days — brokers re-list you.
Won't hand any tool your email password? Manual mode renders the emails for you to send by hand and still tracks them.
