      1. to tie up, to bind
― The man tied his shoes tightly.

Engels’s observations about the industrial city of Manchester provide a concrete example of a broader theoretical question, namely: How does the way production is organized contribute to shaping social relations and people’s material living conditions? The way production is organized is not only concerned with the production of goods; it also affects how people live and the relationships that bind them to one another.
