Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Per Arbitration enforcement, WP:GS/KURD. Kajmer05 (talk) 23:52, 3 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – It's been protected three times before for vandalism or poorly sourced content; I feel like there's been a slight increase again recently, but I'll leave the choice of whether to go semi or PC to the protecting admin. ~ lily my tree ~ 01:19, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Due to ongoing season, a high level of temporary account edits, vandalism and continued fan edits, I request page protection until the season ends. Thanks Tenshi Uisu (talk) 02:48, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Already protected by administrator Dr vulpes. Dr vulpes (Talk) 19:18, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Ron's page is continuing to get automated messages, despite you-know-what. Requesting protection to prevent any more from appearing. JHD0919 (talk • contribs) 20:29, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Note: Userpages of deceased users are fully protected. In the absence of actual disruption, I don't believe we protect user talk pages of deceased users. Also @JHD0919: we don't use euphemisms here; most users will not know what. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:05, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply
Apologies; what I meant was that the page is continuing to get messages despite Ron's death. JHD0919 (talk • contribs) 23:06, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply
I think it's worthy of a discussion that isn't here. Different people will have different opinions about it, but I think automated messages can be useful – perhaps a deletion proposal notification lets me save an article they made, or a new crosswiki article lets me know their hard work continues to be used by different communities. DatGuyTalkContribs 08:51, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: To prevent automated messages like the one I just gave. It doesn't look like they'll receive any more condolences. JHD0919 (talk • contribs) 20:30, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Note: Userpages of deceased users are fully protected. In the absence of actual disruption, I don't believe we protect user talk pages of deceased users. The Bushranger One ping only 23:03, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply
User talk:Dravecky was protected in 2017 solely to prevent automated messages from popping up. Are you implying Cyber shouldn't have done that? JHD0919 (talk • contribs) 23:08, 4 November 2026 (UTC)reply
I am merely noting that this does not appear to be something we routinely do. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:40, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply
I don't know if there's a way to remove them from the automated lists or such...but it would be a nice thing to be able to do. Fwiw, I recently had to protect the talk-page of User:Doug Weller because of sockpuppets popping up right and left...so there's cases where we would want to protect talk-pages of deceased users, but, as has been mentioned above, not routinely. Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – likely in the scope of WP:CT/PIA. Beta Beta Beta - talk 09:00, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – Pages are not protected preemptively. While parts of the article fall within PIA - and WP:CT/EE's 'Poland and the Holocaust' subsection - it falls strictly within neither. Remember that the Holocaust, outside of Poland, does not fall within any contentious topic. The Bushranger One ping only 18:15, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. dualcerbtalk 14:29, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. dualcerbtalk 15:33, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The Bushranger One ping only 18:12, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – obvious vandal magnet. dualcerbtalk 15:37, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: 10 Downing Street is an important building in British history. The fact it is unprotected can leave the page to all types of users, including ones who despise the prime minister and have gotten into extreme political arguments. Those who are from countries that hate Britain can vandalise the page with extreme profane insults. Therefore, for protection against hate crime, it is important that the page must be protected immediately. 55618sh (talk) 16:15, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Dr vulpes (Talk) 19:17, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – His article is on the main page (the first article to show up on today's Did You Know section), so it has attracted some disruptive editing. - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 17:30, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Reason: Protected months ago due to edit warring with patrollers, admin that looked over the case approved the protection and told said patrollers to engage in discussion, nobody ever bothered ever again to engage in the talk page after that, simply maintaining status quo by not engaging. The page still has an audience reception subsection that is 90% about dated twitter controversies and got only renamed because new guidelines look down on controversy container sections. Setted All HarmonyOS to Latest Version, but why i can't? Mi17TPro (talk) 10:51, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Not done - Not an actionable request, and neither the article or its talk page are protected. I suspect the filer may be hitting an edit filter. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Thriller Night! 16:27, 5 November 2026 (UTC)reply
