'Free-rider detection' in 'current research' section

[edit]

The term 'Free-rider detection' is not defined or hyperlinked with a redirection to a definition in any previous sections, nor in this section where it first appears. I suggest a redirection hyperlink be added. Perhaps: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_rider

Peer-to-peer and cryptocurrencies relationship

[edit]

Are cryptocurrencies, directly, an example of a peer-to-peer application (in the computing sense)?

The article defines peer-to-peer computing as an architectural models which nodes act as both as resource providers and requesters. Most sources I've seen describe cryptocurrencies as systems built on blockchains, where nodes may form peer-to-peer networks for tasks like transactions. While end users typically interact via client software that does not provide network resources.

Because of this distinction, I'm not seeing sources that describe cryptocurrencies themselves, as peer-to-peer applications under the computing/networking definition used in the article.

Are there sources which describe cryptocurrencies as peer-to-peer applications, or do they just say they can use a blockchain layer and the blockchain layer can be implemented as peer-to-peer? ◦ Sibshops (talk) 15:27, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

I added a section to call out the dual nature of cryptocurrencies. Any feedback is welcome. ◦ Sibshops (talk) 14:57, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
