- Note: Thirty-four tornadoes have been confirmed but are not yet rated.
- Note: Some tornadoes may be rated using different scales. They are counted as their closest IF-Scale equivalent on this table.
Most tornadoes across Asia are rated by the Enhanced Fujita scale, either partially or unofficially. Although, some meterological organizations and independent studies use different tornado intensity scales, such as Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) with the Japanese Enhanced Fujita scale,[1] and the European Severe Storm Laboratory (ESSL) with the International Fujita Scale.[2][a] For consistency, this list primarily uses the EF-scale. Some events may use the IF-scale, if coverage of tornadoes on Asian regions in the European Severe Weather Database (ESWD) are present.
Climatology
Asia experiences more than a dozen tornadoes annually, similar to Europe and South America; but significantly less compared to the United States. Bangladesh, India, China, Japan, and the Philippines have the highest number of reported tornadoes in Asia.[3][4] The geography of the Bengal region, encompassing Bangladesh and the eastern parts of India, are prone to a number of deadly and destructive tornadoes.[5] The Daulatpur–Saturia tornado was the single deadliest tornado ever recorded, which struck the Manikganj District in Bangladesh on April 26, 1989, and caused approximately 1,300 fatalities and 12,000 injured.[6] In East Asia and Southeast Asia, tornadoes are a regular occurence during the typhoon season. Most tornadoes in these region are often triggered by typhoons or originated as waterspouts before moving inland.[7] Unlike the United States, tornado climatology in Asia is limited due to lack of documentation and scarcity of information. These results in under-reporting and minimal public awareness, leading to a higher death toll.[4]
Tornado activity in Bangladesh and surrounding areas have an average of 6 tornadoes per year.[8] They typically occur during the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon transitional months, with peak activity in April.[5] In East Asia, China leads in tornado activity with an average of 56 tornadoes per year since 1979, after the Reform and opening up period.[9] They occur during the summer months, with peak activity in July and August.[10] Japan, on the other hand, has an average of approximately 19 tornadoes, excluding waterspouts.[11] The number of confirmed tornadoes are highest during the typhoon season accompanied by weather fronts, with peak activity between July and November.[12] In Southeast Asia, tornado activity in the Philippines has an average of 12 to 24 tornadoes per year.[13] The southwest monsoon and typhoons bring most of the country's tornadoes, with peak activity between June and August.[14]

| See section on this tornado – A strong tornado affected several villages in Syria and Turkey. The tornado touched down in fields south of Ayyasha, a farming town in Aleppo Governorate, located near the Turkish border. The circulation was initially weak and embedded in heavy hail; however, it quickly intensified to EF2 strength as it impacted the town, where structural damage was reported to roofs and walls, and power lines and utility poles were bent or collapsed. Between Ayyasha and the nearby town of Silsila, numerous strong pistachio trees sustained heavy damage, with many being uprooted, snapped, or debranched, which after multiple damage surveys, were set at IF4 intensity. Silsila was then hit on the western edge by the tornado, where there was damage to vegetation and structures, with many homes losing roofs or walls. The tornado then crossed the border into Turkey, where it impacted the Turkish town of Çangallı. Maintaining EF2 intensity, roofs were damaged, power lines were downed, and a power transmission tower collapsed. The circulation then began to rapidly shrink, going from a width of around 600 meters to just 30 meters. It began to turn northwest in an attempted occlusion, but failed and made a loop over fields just west of İnkılap before continuing northeast. It remained weak with a deviant path before restabilizing on a nearly northward track, where it reached its maximum width of around 650 meters. It passed by the village of Çaybeyi, where intense damage was done to utility poles and outbuildings along a stretch of road west of the village at atleast EF3 intensity. At least one outbuilding was completely demolished, and nearby trees were snapped and debranched. Continuing north, the tornado reached peak strength in the village of Akçamezra, where roofs were destroyed, utility poles collapsed, trailers and a semi-truck were respectively thrown/overturned, and several buildings received significant structural damage. On the southeastern side of the village, a solid brick and masonry construction home with around 30cm thick walls with some stucco and veneer reinforcement was heavily damaged. A nearby car was also picked up and tossed around several meters. The damage at this area was of EF3 intensity. More damage up to EF2+ intensity was recorded as the tornado tracked through the eastern part of the village, and another area of EF3 damage occurred when the tornado hit farmhouses on the outskirts of town. Several farmhouses received significant damage, and one was almost completely destroyed with just part of one wall remaining. The construction was also solid brick and stone masonry around 30-40cm thick, though connections within the walls seemed weak and were not reinforced. The tornado moved through rural areas and crop fields until it reached east of Kayacık, where it damaged the roof of some farm buildings before crossing a highway. A van driving on the road was thrown into a nearby field, injuring 2 occupants. The tornado continued through the field, damaging trees and the roofs of farm buildings south of Karadibek before dissipating over some hills. This is the strongest tornado of Turkey and Syria, and the first official IF4 rated tornado since 2021.[30] | |||||||
