Adds new decline codes to the PaymentIntent and PaymentMethod APIsBreaking changes

What’s new

Adds the following decline codes to the PaymentIntent and PaymentMethod APIs:

  • payment_intent_payment_attempt_expired
  • payment_method_customer_decline
  • payment_method_provider_timeout
  • payment_method_not_available
  • payment_method_provider_decline

Impact

Lets you accurately identify additional reasons for PaymentIntent or PaymentMethod declines, improving error handling.

Upgrade

  1. View your current API version in Workbench.
  2. If you use an SDK, upgrade to the corresponding SDK version for this API version.
    • If you don’t use an SDK, update your API requests to include Stripe-Version: 2022-11-15
  3. Upgrade the API version used for webhook endpoints.
  4. Test your integration against the new version.
  5. If you use Connect, test your Connect integration.
