A security incident affecting eMudhra intermediate certificates has required removing the emSign root CA certificate from CA bundles such as “certifi”. It’s important to immediately upgrade the software packages below to at least the versions specified and rebuild container images with layer caching disabled to fetch the latest system certificates. Failure to do so could result in monster-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks against TLS clients, including python.org
and pypi.org
.

To apply this mitigation please upgrade to Python 3.15.2, 3.14.10, 3.13.18, 3.12.16, and 3.11.18. Note that Python versions 3.10 and older are end-of-life and no longer eligible for security fixes.

For all existing virtual environments on your system, please upgrade pip and uv to the latest versions. You can update pip securely by running the following command and then use this secure pip installation to upgrade certifi and uv:

python -m pip install "pip @ https://files.pythonhosted.org/packages/3f/06/3e4420302363fbb71be3c7f35ce042f54bfca330e3e66b3a2e3c4cca579f/pip-26.2.2-py3-none-any.whl#sha256=fd7f4dfa8190e014013b9f08f3e973f4e4c26ffd179a204895533a7254813a70"

Note that the certifi CA bundle is included in the macOS installation of Python from python.org.
