Josh Hartnett shares steamy scenes with Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway on the set of Verity, and to make it happen, they used an intimacy coordinator.
In a new interview, Hartnett opened up about how an intimacy coordinator “played a big part” in filming the Colleen Hoover novel adaptation.
“So intimacy coordination played a big part, but when you’re working with amazing actors and professionals who understand the wrote and the writ and a director like Michael Showalter who likes to keep things alive and fun on set, we became fast friends, and so all that stuff just felt kind of goofy,” Hartnett said on ABC News Live Prime.
He continued, “We laughed a lot on this set and if we were ever to make another movie together it would have to be a comedy, but obviously this one is not so we had to keep a straight face occasionally.”

Verity follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity. After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.
On working with Hathaway and Johnson, Hartnett said, “As I said, we got along really well, and when you get along with people and you have a director who understands what’s needed from you, you can create that chemistry sort of in a way like a puzzle. There are certain things that lead to other things in the narrative that I think build on that chemistry, and we got along really well, so we could play with those dynamics.”
Hartnett noted that Hathaway and Johnson “are both such professional and intentional actors and just really, really talented,” adding, “It felt like I was in the best possible position to be able to do that with them.”

I don’t carel how “professional” actors are but if my husband was an actor playing a part where he was intimate with another woman, actress or not he would get his walking papers like asap.
Ugh. I’m glad they’re all getting along so well, but it’s sad to see comments that imply actors who “get along” have no need for intimacy coordination.
There are a million reasons actors might not feel comfortable setting boundaries and speaking up when those boundaries are crossed. One might even be that everyone gets along so well and they don’t want to make waves.
Thank God for intimacy coordinators who take on that burden. They’re willing to make the waves and be the “bad guy” so everyone can do their jobs safely.
Great movie! So happy to support Josh again.
Saw advanced screening last night- eye opening movie that will not disappoint. I love movies where you think you have it all figured out and in the end you get one more twist. Wow! Go see it!
Who cares, Hollywood has ther way to make a film worth paying for. Such games for movie acts only the vile minded appreciate.
Allure is so much more appealing.
The hell does that even mean
I think they mean its not necessary or good to show sex scenes but implying it is more appealing. Sometimes thats true, but in more romantic movies, not this type of movie.
That’s what I was thinking..
