Tonight’s premiere of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access drove a record number of single day signups at CBS’ digital streaming subscription service. No specific numbers were reported, buyt the network claims today’s stats outstrip the previous record spurred by the 2017 Grammy Awards in February.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Discovery became available to stream on CBS All Access tonight with the shows also broadcasting on CBS. All new episodes will be available on demand weekly after 8:30 PM ET on Sundays exclusively for CBS All Access stateside subscribers.
In addition to its single-day record, CBS All Access saw its best week and month ever for signups thanks to Star Trek: Discovery, the fall kickoff of the NFL on CBS, and the season finale of Big Brother and Big Brother Live Feeds.
CBS All Access also dropped the inaugural episode of After Trek, the show’s live companion after-show hosted by Matt Mira, at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT. All subsequent After Trek episodes will be available to stream live at 9:30 PM ET following new episodes of Star Trek: Discovery.
Watch on Deadline
Earlier this year, CBS All Access streamed its first original series, The Good Wife spinoff The Good Fight. In addition, CBS All Access provides fans access to 9000-plus episodes on demand that span primetime, daytime, late-night and classic TV.

Huh?? 😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌
What really is annoying is that this show in Europe is on Netflix as an exclusive. So CBS expects its own countrymen to subsidize those in Europe who want to watch the show. Pretty pathetic on their part.
Get your facts right!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
With my cable bill already at a hundred dollars a month on low-definition, there is no way I am paying $6-10 to watch one show in their (CBS’) otherwise crappy lineup. UNLESS, after the season is over I will just get a free week or month, and binge the whole season. Pisha to CBS. It is like some of the other comments on here, this is a slippery slope. Don’t we pay enough already? At least HBO has Game of Thrones, and Westworld, plus movies on multiple iterations of it’s channels. NOPE. When season one is either available to binge, or on DVD in my local library I can wait… I never wish a Star Trek franchise to fail, just this BS cbs ploy.
standard-definition*
I am willing to bet that a lot of people signed up for the 1-week free trial period and will cancel just before it bills (like I just did). I liked the show for the most part, but cannot justify spending money on All Access (the lowest tier has commercials, which is insulting when one considers that Netflix is a just about the same price and has infinitely more content, all commercial free. Plus the commercials were painful to sit through—hawking prescription meds and other odd products. I also agree with others…there are too many of these subscriptions services…Netflix, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, NFL (and other sports streaming services), HBO Go, etc. These all add to the basic expense of simply having DSL or cable access to the Web. Plus if you have cable TV on top of all this… omg. Some people have a lot of money to spend!
This is total BS from CBS. The show was crappy and I highly doubt anyone subscribing for just one show. CBS hitched it’s wagon to the wrong horse.
LOL. Your comment made me laugh.
Why should I pay the price to watch this show I pay for TV service I’m not going to pay more to see this online
They say: “Cus it’s ‘TV-MA’ rated.”
And please now don’t say that “do it on Showtime®” as we all know how dismal their subscriber-base is, as is the case with any
pornopremium-cable network. Moreover, Star Trek® ain’t Mr Colbert for CBS® either where they’ll shift just a single event on premium-cable just cus it needs to be Live=all nude-yyy.*I Agree and will not pay for All Access, CBS is trying to make money on a network that is trailing and they believe this is a way to save CBS, There are too many other networks for content, And a re imaged spinoff of Star Trek didn’t impress me enough to consider it. The premier was delayed for Live TV and the Show was a mess in content and character development. Effects were nice but the story line and execution was less than I expected.
It seemed more like a well funded and short on judgement of how it related to the Star Trek legacy.
Many said the same thing about Next Generation and Enterprise And I saw some of that myself but they were closer to the series. Discovery is much too far off the mark than the others, And I don’t see it able to recover from the premier before it fades away rapidly.
It is more like the hijacking and re imaging of BSG, It disregards the other series too much for life time Trekkies to bond with it. Much less pay to watch it with a contract when money is too tight for many. My childhood home had the first color TV and we all enjoyed TOS watching that, But Discovery does not have a feature and they milk you for subscriptions to support it. Maybe reruns will do better if it last long enough, and outlives the Pay per View type planning. That just looks like greed or desperation to save CBS to me.
