Make architecture decisions that fit the context.
Five-week live certification cohorts for senior engineers and architects working through distributed systems, decentralized decision-making, platform engineering, and AI architecture.
“The program significantly broadened my approach to software architecture by encouraging big-picture and systems-level thinking.”
Architecture decisions change when they meet the organization.
A design can look sound in isolation and behave differently once it meets team boundaries, platform constraints, operational realities, and the way decisions are made across an organization.
The harder part is rarely finding another architecture pattern. It is working out whether an approach fits your environment, making the trade-offs explicit, and seeing what changes once the decision is used in practice.
The five-week cohort gives that process a regular structure while the decision is still current.
Pick the intake that fits your schedule.
Every intake runs the same five-week program with the same facilitator. What differs is the start date and the time zone the live sessions run in.
See the dates, schedule, technical focus and price for each one.

Who leads the cohort?
Luca leads the cohort across the five weeks, so later discussions can build on what participants tried between sessions.
Luca has more than 20 years of experience across software architecture, has delivered 350+ speaking engagements including QCon, and has worked with more than 100 teams on distributed architectures.
How the five weeks work.
Selected QCon and InfoQ technical material provides the starting point. The live sessions are where participants examine the approach, challenge assumptions, and hear how the same architecture decision changes in other environments.
Between sessions, participants put the thinking into practice against a decision they already own. The next session builds on what happened.

Compare your assumptions with people working elsewhere.
Your experience is shaped by the systems and organizations you have worked in. The cohort puts your reasoning alongside experienced practitioners dealing with different architecture, scale, regulation, incentives, and team structures.
The useful comparison is where an approach transfers, where it changes, and why. You still own the decision and what happens next in your environment.
Finish with work you can point to.
Across the cohort, develop a technical article around an architecture problem and present it in week five.
Selected work may be published on InfoQ under the current program terms.

What changed after the cohort.
“The single most valuable outcome has been improving how I write and think. I can now articulate trade-offs in a way that improves my proposals at work.”
Who is this Software Architecture program for?
Designed for experienced software practitioners who already influence architecture decisions and can connect the cohort to work they currently own.
Typical participants include Senior Software Architects, Senior Software Engineers, Principal Architects, Principal Engineers, Senior Staff Engineers, and Technical Leads.
The current program is designed for practitioners with at least five years of professional experience.
Start from QCon and InfoQ technical material.
Selected QCon talks and InfoQ technical material provide the starting point for each week. The cohort is where participants examine those ideas against different systems, organizations, and constraints.
Architecture topic FAQ
What is the InfoQ Software Architecture certification program? + −
A five-week live online certification cohort for experienced software engineers and architects working through architecture decisions across distributed systems, teams, platforms, and AI.
Why a cohort instead of self-paced architecture material? + −
Architecture decisions depend on context. The cohort gives you recurring time to examine an approach with people working under different constraints, use it in your own environment, and return with what happened.
How much time should I allow? + −
Plan for four live hours each week, plus time-boxed application work between sessions.
Are the sessions recorded? + −
No. The sessions are not recorded so participants can discuss current systems and organizational context more openly.
How do I earn the certification? + −
Certification is based on consistent participation in the live cohort and successful completion of the capstone.
Can my company pay by invoice? + −
Yes, invoicing is available until 2 weeks before the cohort start date. After that, payment is online only. You can pay by credit card, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay at any time. Taxes may apply and are shown on your purchase record.
Can I get help making the case internally? + −
Yes. Use the Convince Your Manager page to copy a guided AI prompt or start from a ready-to-edit email template. Choose the cohort you are considering so the current dates, price, facilitator, time commitment, and capstone are included.
