ECIT Foundation (European citizens’ rights, Involvement and Trust) reposted this
Building Europe through education 🇪🇺 Thank you to the ECIT Foundation (European citizens’ rights, Involvement and Trust) for inviting me to share the vision of my father, #DomenicoLenarduzzi, behind the #Erasmus programme. His ambition went far beyond student mobility. Erasmus was, for him, a way to build European citizenship through lived experience. “My ultimate goal in creating Erasmus was to contribute to building Europe by creating a sense of European citizenship, not only as a feeling, but through the lived experience of what Europe really means. The European Union has replaced the European Community, reflecting a much more ambitious vision. But we must not lose the idea of community: the idea that we share a common good and a common experience. This is how we can move towards a Europe rooted in the universal values that its founding fathers always envisioned. And this is how we can build a Europe that is both strong and generous: economically strong enough to play its part in history, and generous towards the rest of the world and towards those within Europe who face difficulties.” Domenico Lenarduzzi Biennale de l’éducation et de la formation Sorbonne Université, Paris — 9 April 1994 Suzana Carp Tony Venables 🙏🏻 #EU #EuropeanCitizenship European Commission

🚨 Czechia just proved that voting from abroad can work. So why are mobile EU citizens still being left behind?🇪🇺🗳️ In 2025, Czechia launched a new postal voting reform for their National Parliamentary Elections: 8,978 Czech citizens living abroad used the new postal option. While Czech citizens can now mail their ballot to Prague to elect their nationals MPs, they cannot vote from abroad in European Parliament elections. Czechia’s experience shows that when voting is made accessible, citizens participate. 🇪🇺 If Member States can modernise voting for national elections, there is no reason to leave mobile citizens behind in European elections. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eaxRfETT #Czechia #Democracy #EU #VotingRights #EuropeanElections #EuropeanCitizenship

Help us build a youth-led movement for equal rights across Europe 🇪🇺 Over the past few weeks, momentum behind our upcoming European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), All On Board, has been incredible. Organizations, youth networks, and passionate advocates from across the continent are joining forces to demand equal political and civil rights for all EU citizens. Our plan is to launch the official signature campaign this November, but bringing a cross-border ECI to life takes more than just passion and manpower; it takes a whole lot of resources. At ECIT, we rarely ask our community for financial support. However, to power our campaign tools, equip local youth coordinators, and fund grassroots actions across 27 Member States, we need your help. Every single euro goes directly toward building a stronger, youth-led push for European democracy. Donate to support the All On Board campaign at: https://lnkd.in/eeWtARVp #AllOnBoard #ECI #EuropeanCitizenship #YouthLed #DemocracyInAction #ECITFoundation #Fundraising

⚖️The independence of the Court of Justice of the European Union is not a technical issue. It is the last line of defense for millions of European citizens, when national authorities fail to uphold their rights. Our latest opinion piece warns that a draft report currently before the European Parliament's AFCO Committee risks weakening that protection by limiting citizens' access to the CJEU and undermining the EU's rule of law framework. As the report moves toward committee votes this autumn, now is the time to defend an independent European judiciary and the rights it protects. 📝 Read "Hands Off Our European Court: Why the AFCO Draft Report Threatens Citizens’ Rights" by ECIT Founder Tony Venables: https://lnkd.in/exCKs47Q
