Three continents. One year. Next stop: India. WeAreDevelopers Conference India is coming to Bengaluru on November 25–26, and tickets are live now. In July, 15,000+ developers came together in Berlin for WeAreDevelopers World Congress Europe, our flagship event and the place where the European developer community meets. In September, we brought the World Congress to San José for our first edition in North America. 10,000+ attendees, right in the heart of Silicon Valley. Bengaluru is the next step. Why India, and why now? Bengaluru is one of the most important places on earth for building software. A huge share of the world’s engineering talent works there, and much of how teams adopt AI in practice is being worked out there too. We want to be part of that conversation, not watch it from a distance. The best sign we’re on the right track is that our partners are coming with us. Entire, led by Thomas Dohmke, has been with us in Berlin, in San Jose, and now in Bengaluru as co-host of our main stage. IBM and Microsoft/GitHub are joining us there too. When partners follow you from one continent to the next, you know the platform is working. Two days on building, shipping and running software in the age of AI, with 100+ speakers and engineering leaders from JPMorganChase, Stripe, Booking.com, Slack and more. If you lead an engineering organisation in India, or want to reach the people who do, let’s talk. Tickets are live at wearedevs.in See you in Bengaluru. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a developer conference. Thank you, WeAreDevelopers! And somewhere between the talks, hallway conversations, demos, and meeting people building very different things, a friend Karim Baba asked me a surprisingly useful question: What are the four words that stuck with you? Not the four best sessions. Not the four biggest trends. Just four words that kept resurfacing in my head afterward. Mine were: - JEV TypeSafe AI - SBX Docker, Inc - HITL - Guardrails His advice was simple: if those are the things your brain chose to hold onto, go deeper. So that’s what I’m going to do. Over the next few weeks, I want to spend some time learning more about each one, experimenting where I can, and sharing what I discover. It also reminded me that I want to start sharing more of the work happening between the “big” milestones. The things I’m learning. Small prototypes. AI experiments. Security workshops. Ideas that may or may not turn into something. Conversations that make me rethink an assumption. Not everything has to be a finished product before it’s worth sharing. More to come. And for those who were there (or in any other recent conference): what was the one word or idea you brought home with you? Maxim Tereshchenko, Ana Mayer, Peter Wang, Oscarly Sanchez, Volodymyr Rozhkovych

"With AI search, systems can find, connect and use data in ways that were not possible before. But AI systems are only as good as the data they run on: discoverability, quality, governance and reliability are becoming engineering problems, not afterthoughts." Jared J. (Managing VP, Capital One), Tomislav Tipurić (CTO, Nephos), Saurabh Sharma (CPO, You.com) and Vikas Mathur (CPO, MariaDB) on what enterprises actually need to get right. In 2025, Netlify made a deliberate shift in product direction: from Developer Experience to what Mathias Biilmann, CEO & Co-founder of Netlify, calls Agent Experience — AX. In this talk he lays out the emerging AX discipline, how it lets domain experts become the next generation of software developers, and why software engineering stays essential even as the tools and workflows around it change completely. "Enterprise software is getting a second kind of user: agents that log in, call APIs and complete tasks on behalf of people. Products built for human eyes and hands work badly for machine users — interfaces, permissions, integrations and pricing all assume a person on the other end." Gil Feig (Co-Founder & CTO, Merge), Nitin Eusebius (Amazon Web Services (AWS)), Sachin Kaura (SAP Business AI) and James Watters ( Broadcom / VMware Tanzu) on what it actually takes to make enterprise software work for agents. LinkedIn's Economic Graph, combined with recent advances in AI, is being put to work on deeper discovery, sharper insights and better interactions across LinkedIn's professional network. Erran Berger, CTO of LinkedIn Engineering, explains how owning the full stack — from the application layer down to the kernel running on the GPU — lets LinkedIn ship sophisticated AI experiences while keeping infrastructure growth disciplined, and what that vertical integration unlocks. "While artificial intelligence represents a pivotal shift in human capability, its long-term impact hinges on how underlying technologies are governed and distributed." Mitesh Patel, Ph.D. (Developer Advocate & Manager, NVIDIA), Joey C. (Sr. Director Product Management , NVIDIA), Olivier Lacombe (Director of Product Management , Google DeepMind) and Varun V. (Head of Partner Engineering (AI Ecosystems), Meta) make the case for open-weight models — lower costs for startups and researchers, room for custom solutions and data sovereignty, security strengthened through open audits, and applications reaching well beyond tech into healthcare, public policy and education. "AI is increasing the role of engineers to shaping systems, controls, evaluation and trust in production." Leigh-Ann Russell, CIO & Global Head of Engineering at BNY, opens Day 2 with lessons from BNY's own enterprise AI work — including Eliza and its digital employees — to make the case that effective AI implementation comes down to coherence across data, architecture, governance and human accountability, not model capability alone. AI is changing how software gets built, and engineering organizations are changing with it — tools, workflows and team structures are all in motion at once. Hari Lingamagunta (Head of Developer Infrastructure, Atlassian), Siwei Shen (VP of Engineering, Coinbase), Amy Yuan (Senior Director of Engineering, Snowflake) and Gene Kim (Author, Researcher, Founder, IT Revolution) compare notes on what AI-native engineering actually looks like in practice — what's working, what isn't, and where it's headed.
