Dropbox Says It Raised $6 Million Last Year

Dropbox, a start-up that allows users to back up, synchronize and share files, revealed that it has raised $6 million in a first round of funding.

Sequoia Capital led the round, which included Accel Partners.

Dropbox told VentureBeat that it had closed the round in October 2008, but didn’t want it to be public information because it was negotiating for the dropbox.com URL at the time and didn’t want the sellers to know how much capital it had on hand.
