New in 1.2: check every model before you print and Repair what a slicer would trip on, import USDZ scans, and send parts straight to Bambu Studio or PrusaSlicer.
Shapely 3D is a fast, native 3D modeling app built for Mac — sketch, sculpt, and export real 3D models with just your mouse or trackpad.
Build scenes from simple primitives, then move, rotate, and scale them with an on-screen gizmo. Snap to a configurable grid, measure distances as you work, and use the orientation cube to jump straight to any view. Shapely 3D saves your work as a native document you can open again anytime, right where you left off.
Export a USDZ at real scale and it opens in Quick Look and Preview, streams to Vision Pro through Spatial Preview, and loads in any USD tool. Every project is in Spotlight, Siri and Shortcuts, and opens straight into the editor from the result.
Shapely 3D Pro unlocks:
• CSG boolean operations — union, subtract, and intersect shapes to build more complex forms
• STL export — send your models straight to a 3D printer or another CAD tool
• Sketch & Extrude — draw a 2D profile and pull it into a solid
• Smoothing — round any object with adjustable, non-destructive subdivision
• Cut tool — slice objects apart along a face or a drawn line
• Edit Faces — move, extrude, and reshape the individual faces of any object, and give any face a color of its own
• Repair — find the holes, stray faces, and inside-out faces a slicer would trip on, see them in red, and fix them before you export
Whether you're prototyping a part, teaching geometry, or just enjoy building things in 3D, Shapely 3D keeps the fundamentals simple and gets out of your way.

Shapely 3D 1.2 catches a failed print before the printer does - and hands the finished part straight to your slicer. Four hours of spaghetti, averted.
PRINTABILITY CHECK
- Every object is now checked the way a slicer checks it: holes in the surface, edges shared by three faces, faces turned inside out. A flagged object gets a warning in the objects list; a clean one gets nothing at all, because silence is the highest compliment a mesh can receive.
- The new Printing tab, beside the Inspector and the Catalog (Option-Cmd-3), lists what is wrong, explains why a printer cares and can draw the problem edges in red on the model. Red means "here", not "panic".
- Repair (Pro) closes holes, welds gaps, removes stray faces and turns inside-out faces the right way round, in one undoable step - then tells you what it fixed and what it couldn't. An honest repair job. Rare in any trade.
- Exporting an STL or USDZ, sharing one, or opening a model in a slicer now asks first when an object may not print: Repair and Export, Export Anyway or Cancel. A clean scene is never interrupted. A Shortcut exporting a flagged project fails with a clear message instead of writing a file that fails later, in the dark, at 3 am.
IMPORT USDZ
- File > Import > USDZ..., or drop a .usdz on the viewport. A scan from an iPhone's scanner app - the hinge, the broken knob, the mug the holder has to fit - or any model Quick Look opens lands in the project at real size. Make it a model, not a memory.
OPEN IN BAMBU STUDIO AND PRUSASLICER
- File > Open in lists the slicers installed on your Mac; pick one and the model goes straight there as an STL, no save panel in between. It's also in a project card's menu on the home, so a finished part can go from card to print bed without the editor ever opening. The editor is fine with this. It's not taking it personally.
ALSO NEW
- The Printing tab gathers everything about getting a model onto a printer: the selected object's check and Repair, Export STL and Open in. One tab, one purpose, no wandering.
- The File menu groups its file items into Import, Export and Open in submenus, each row a format or an app, instead of a run of Import STL..., Import USDZ..., Export STL..., Export USDZ... that read like a roll call.
- Duplicate a project from the home: right-click a card and "[name] copy" appears at the top of the grid, ready to change while the original stays exactly as it was. Experiment on the copy. That's what copies are for.
- A Liquid Glass app icon, with Dark, Clear and Tinted looks that follow the Dock. The orange cube now rests on its workplane grid, as objects do in the app - it had been floating for two releases and nobody said a word. The same icon greets you in About and on the welcome tour's first page.
- The welcome tour's last page now says to check the model on the Printing tab and Repair it before exporting, so the first print doesn't fail on a hole the check would have caught.
- The App Store review request no longer appears while you're working. It waits for the projects home, after a few days of real use, skips any session that ran into an error, and comes back at most once a quarter. It has learned to read the room.
FIXED
- Export STL proposes the project's name instead of "Untitled.stl". It knew the name the whole time.
- Export STL..., Export USDZ... and Share > STL no longer stay enabled on the projects home after closing a project. They follow the open project and grey out on an empty scene, instead of offering, enthusiastically, to export nothing.
- The Pro screen no longer cuts the longer features short with "...". Each one now reads in full, on a second line when it needs one, in every language. German, this one's for you.
