I love this application for its simplicity and functionality. Specifically, the ability to take a screen shot of an area of the screen and then hit a key combination to take another shot of THE SAME AREA. This is a huge timesaver for documentation purposes. Once I have my same-sized screenshots of a specific area, I can annotate them and write the instructions and everything looks nice and clean. It does become rather sluggish and seems a bit buggy when you have nearly a thousand items in the Evernote notebook that Skitch is attached to, so I would like the abiity to limit the number of items that Skitch displays. Maybe that would speed it up a bit?
Not being updated for newer macOS versions, so keyboard shortcuts conflict

A while ago, macOS added features that partially overlap with Sktich:screenshotting areas of the screen using a crosshair-like interface, or screenshotting windows just by clicking on them, as well as the classic screenshotting the entire screen. It can send these screenshots to Preview for annotation, making Skitch mostly just an alternate toolset for annotating things, with Evernote integration built/forced in. There are pros and cons to both interfaces, but the problem is that Skitch uses the same shortcuts as these macOS features, and unlike macOS which allows you to remap the shortcuts, Skitch does not. This means Skitch collides with the ⇧⌘5 shortcut that macOS has. This is a usability issue, forcing you to either disable the macOS shortcut or to rebind it to something else. Furthermore, some of the Skitch shortcuts just don't work in a global context. (⇧⌘M, the "capture window" shortcut, which is similar to the macOS default for ⇧⌘5, doesn't work unless the main Skitch interface is open and focused.)The lack of maintenance on this app over time (as of this review, the last release was over 3 years ago) bodes ill for long-term users. Given that Skitch dropped support for other OSes many years ago, it seems that this app is likely not going to receive many updates, if any, in the future, even if macOS features get in its way. Most developers, if their app becomes somewhat redundant with new macOS features, either do things to help differentiate their app from Apple's default offerings, or at least try to avoid things like key combinations colliding in ways that present usability issues. Not so for Evernote, Inc. though. I am a long-time users of this app, probably for around 10 years or so, and my disappointment with it has been steadily mounting.

I always love to markup my screenshots, I do about 20 screenshots per day complete with arrows and the like.This application is reasonably good for "after the shot" markups but not so much with the initial shot. For my initial shots I typically use "Flameshot" as it allows me to markup right on the screen as I took the shot and allows me to simply save to clipboard instead of flooding my desktop with screenshots.So I use this application for any screenshot I need to annotate AFTER it's been saved to the desktop and it's really good at that (quick arrows, quick text etc). The one thing I wish it had was an option to not warn me when exiting the app. Yes I know I'll lose the document unless I saved it, allow me to make that mistake and stop warning me!
Feature request? “Focus” tool to dim surrounding

I use Skitch all the time. My favorite tool is Command+Shift+C to copy and share into another app. I have no idea where to make a feature request as all of the forums on Evernote are, well, for Evernote. Here goes. I would be cool to have a tool that lets you select a section of a screenshot and dims the area not included in the select. Kind of like what you see when you use the crop tool except leave the selected area at full color and the non-selected area dimmed. If there’s a better place to make this request, please let us know. Also, this red—phew. Need to stare at something green now for 5 mins ;-)
