A daily journal that grows into a garden.
Write a few lines, snap a photo, record a voice note, or doodle your day. Every memory becomes a hand-drawn plant, and over the year your entries grow into a memory garden that's all yours.
One Year makes journaling feel light, visual, and easy to keep up with.

Never has journaling felt so easy for me!!! I used to be an avid journaler but most apps are so complicated and give such a small scope into your entries that I would lose track of everything. The user interface is so easy to navigate and I’m obsessed with the tiny garden that appears as you journal daily. I have a mood disorder and now it’s easier than ever to get a glimpse at how I have been doing, and to catch patterns.I wish there were more customization options, like options to change the color of the font or the background of the app, or the color of the flowers, but I love this app. I recommend it to all of my friends and show them my little garden all the time <3

Hi!!This is Alec, the dev behind One Year :). Tysm for trying out our app and leaving such an awesome review (this is put on my moms fridge worthy haha). I hear you on the customization! Funnily enough, there are a ton moving parts around it to still make it feel simple + easy to use. More than happy to chat more about it whenever! Just drop me an email at alec@wndn.studio anytime :). Tysm again - we appreciate you!Alec

I love how keeping track of the year with this app is less daunting than others. The garden theme is so cute! I highly recommend this app! My one and only suggestion would be to add another widget for the lock screen. One that’s half the size of the current one. It could be of just whatever the little drawing for that day is (and maybe for the dots you could put the number of days?). I have some widgets on my lock screen already and I feel like the smaller one would give more options for customization. Keep up the great work!

Definitely not worth the price
Space Kook
I'm incredibly unimpressed with the "free" version of this journal. The repeated criticism that the advertised journalling is paywalled feels frequently ignored. -"There's a trial period." Is not good enough reasoning for having the primary purpose for a journal paywalled. This is the bare minimum to be expected and delivered by a subscription plan. -"Pricing is hard, lol." Is also not an adequate enough reason to justify a DIGITAL journal app. I am not paying for materials, shipping, craftsmanship, etc. like I would for a physical journal. The lifetime option price is more expensive than all of the actual quality physical journals I pay for. I was excited to try out this cute looking journal, but with how minimalist and limited my options are, I remain disappointed and unimpressed. A PREMIUM PAID version of an app should ADD to the core concept. The main core of this is "journalling," and it is advertised as that.

Yo!This is Alec, the dev behind One Year.Appreciate you taking the time to lay down your thoughts for us.I'll be totally honest, you quoting what I said in other reviews made my day. Glad to see you actually took the time to see what I was saying about this stuff!I hear you on all of this, and honestly sorry that you were really excited about this app and felt like it didn't deliver for you. We've been developing this app for 1.5 years. A ton has changed from day one, and I started realizing that things have been developed backwards lol. We never sought out to make a daily journal like this, but it just grew into that. That put us in a different position with how we want to monetize it. You may not see it as we do, but this is our form craftsmanship. We've spent countless hours perfecting small animations / ui / ux of the app. Thinking about how to keep it super simple. We even sat down and drew 365 unique plants by hand.At the end of the day, we know that this value may not come through to people, but I think One Year is one of the best apps for people who want to start their journaling journey, and don't want to be bogged down by apps that feel like a "utility".I take every review we get really seriously and am constantly thinking about how to balance it. We're working hard to make something people love, and WE love.At the end of the day, I hope you can see where we are coming from :).I would love to chat more with you + give you free access to One Year if you're interested. Drop me an email at alec@wndn.studio anytime.Would love to hear from youAlec
Cute Idea but disappointed
Apollogie
I saw an ad by somebody promoting this on TikTok and I thought it looked like a super cute idea, so while I was bored on the train, I decided to download it and try it out. My first impression was very positive, I loved the theming, the concept, and everything about it. I made my first journal and was excited to make my garden. When i came back another day and went to journal, I was prompted with the fact I had ti pay for a subscription to continue my journaling. This made me super sad. I understand having a subscription for features within the app, but a journaling app should allow you to journal for free, even if its limited to features. I cannot justify the price. I hope you guys find a way to make the journaling free, as it is a very cute app.

Hi there! This is Alec, the dev behind One Year. Tysm for checking out the app and leaving some thoughts for us. Totally understand where you’re coming from. I know we can use some work on giving a bit more information in app on what to expect. But, we make sure to always give everyone free trials with no strings attached! You can literally cancel at anytime if you don’t want to pay for it. There is also a free tier that gives you access to daily mood tracking. I would love to drop you a much longer trial to try out the app! Just drop me an email at alec@wndn.studioTysm again for the thoughts, hope to hear from you soon. Alec
A quick fix for your garden :)
- Fixed a crash that could close the app when opening your memories, adding photos, or signing in on iOS 17 and early iOS 18
