Mac • Planned Dates — Planned Dates are now included when printing. • Stability — Fixed a crash that could occur laying out summary task dots in Forecast.

OmniFocus 4.7 introduces three powerful enhancements: a new “Planned” date type, the ability to create mutually exclusive tags, and improved repeat functionality (including new support for setting a repeat to end after a specific date or set number of repetitions). These features require migrating your database format, using our updated migration flow. This release also includes a range of improvements which do not require a database migration: new Forecast functionality, Time Sensitive Notification support, improved shortcut actions, and more! • Database Migration — Some features in this release require a new database format. The updated database migration assistant will prompt to migrate your database after all syncing copies of OmniFocus have updated to 4.7 (database migration can also be initiated manually via the Migrate Database option, available in the menu bar on macOS and in Settings on iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS). • Planned Dates — Items can now be assigned a Planned Date, in addition to a Defer and a Due Date. A Planned Date is the date an action, action group, or project is scheduled for work. (Planned dates require database migration.) • Mutually Exclusive Tags — Mutually exclusive behavior can now be enabled for tag groups. When enabled, only one tag from a tag group can be assigned to an item at a time; when an additional tag from this group is assigned, the previously assigned tag is removed. Mutually exclusive tags can be useful in a variety of workflows, including priority and energy level assignment. (Mutually exclusive tags require database migration.) • Improved Repeats — A range of new repeat behaviors can now be configured in the updated Repeat Inspector. (New repeat behaviors require database migration.) Repeat Limits — Repeats can now be set to end after a date or set number of repetitions. Automatic Catch Up — Repeating items now skip forward to next future date when “Catch up automatically” is enabled. Repeat Schedules — Improved scheduling flexibility for items that repeat on a regular schedule. Inspector — New interface for editing repeats. When not editing, repeat behavior is now summarized in Inspector. • Forecast — Forecast has been updated to better summarize relevant items and improve date assignment. Summary Dots — New summary dots in Forecast date header and calendar sidebar communicate how many items are due, due soon, or have been assigned a due date on a given day. Summary dots can be hidden if desired in the Notifications Settings. Counts — Summary counts in Forecast now count all displayed items (previously, counts only included due items). Count behavior can be customized in the Notifications Settings. Date Assignment — New “In Forecast: Add or drag to assign” Organization setting determines whether a Defer, Planned, or Due Date is assigned when adding new actions and projects, or dragging existing actions and projects to a date tile. • Time Sensitive Notifications — OmniFocus notifications now default to Time Sensitive alert behavior. • Shortcuts — New “Find Perspective” shortcut action. • Localizations — Additional content has been translated throughout the app. • Terminology — Standardized wording and capitalization for consistency across platforms (most changes pertain to dates, notifications, and settings). • Help — Help menu item now opens in app documentation (rather than re-directing to the online manual). • Help — Help content has been substantially updated, including consolidation of OmniFocus for the Web documentation into the OmniFocus 4 Reference Manual. See app for full Release Notes, including platform-specific changes.

All Platforms • Database Compatibility — Improved recovery flow when an incompatible database format is encountered. • OS Compatibility — Updated accuracy of alert presented when OmniFocus detects it is running on an OS it has not yet been updated to support. Mac • Stability — Pressing Esc key when cursor is placed in Note field no longer triggers a crash in Modern outlining mode.

OmniFocus 4.6 improves note and attachment functionality on all supported platforms, with new support for image attachment resizing and paste behavior refinements. This release also introduces new attachment and link contextual shortcut menus on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, and brings support for custom font display to these platforms. All Platforms • Attachments — Image attachments can now be resized within a note. • Paste — New "Pasting from other apps” setting offers options for paste behavior when pasting styled text. • Paste — Improved app default ("Merge Style") paste behavior, which discards most formatting from externally copied text, keeping only essential styles such as bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, subscript or superscript, ligatures, and writing direction, as well as links with titles, and attachments. • Paste — Styled text copied from within OmniFocus now always pastes "with Original Styles," regardless of Paste setting. • Paste — Menu items and keyboard shortcuts are now available for all Paste behavior variants. Existing keyboard shortcut for "Paste with Original Style" has been updated for platform consistency. • Shortcuts — Removed beta status from "Find" Shortcuts. • Sync — Improved cross-platform consistency of sync prompts. • Attachments — Database compaction now triggers immediate removal of deleted attachments. • Custom Perspectives — Reordering items in outline when there is a sidebar selection no longer results in unexpected sort order in "Tagged with any of" custom perspectives. • Dates — Date parser now accepts "fev" for localized French abbreviation of February. • Paste — When pasting with merged styles, additional text pasted into a text run now adopts existing style. • Sync — Improved sync logic to reduce frequency of unexpected database rebuilding. • Sync — Improved performance by reducing unnecessary Bonjour sync triggers. Mac • Omni Automation — Plug-in toolbar button appearance now matches appearance of native toolbar buttons. • Apple Intelligence — Writing Tools cursor is no longer displayed for project, tag, and date fields in Inspector.

OmniFocus 4.5.3 includes bug fixes related to syncing, and rebuilding the database. Mac • Notes — Fixed a rare issue where an incoming sync, received while editing a note, could cause the most recent note edits to be lost. • Rebuild Database — Using the Rebuild Database… command no longer merges tabs into a single window when “Prefer tabs when opening documents” is set to “Always” in System Settings.

OmniFocus 4.5.2 includes more powerful notifications on iPhone and iPad, a new Apple Watch complication, improvements to Smart Match, updates to our Shortcuts actions (including an all-new Sync action), better VoiceOver support for repeats, enhanced keyboard navigation on iPad, a new Omni Automation API, and a collection of bug fixes. All Platforms • Omni Automation — Omni Automation can be used to change the color of a custom perspective icon. • Shortcuts — Sync OmniFocus action has been added. • In-App Purchases — In-app purchases have been streamlined to offer perpetual OmniFocus 4 licenses for all new purchases. • Shortcuts — Find Actions has a new “Item Type” filter, which supports filtering by action, group, or project. • Shortcuts — Find Projects filter for “Folder” now supports both “is” and “is not”, which apply to projects directly inside the selected folder. • Shortcuts — Quick Entry, Quick Open, and Sync OmniFocus actions are grouped under a new Application header. • Smart Match — Smart Match has been updated to prioritize consecutive letters over consecutive words, as well as words over non-contiguous capital letters, improving results when assigning projects and tags. • Tips — Updated “Hide feature tips” label in settings. • Custom Perspectives — Tagged actions inside of groups now display consistently whether or not "Preserve Hierarchy" is enabled. • Estimated Duration — Estimated Duration consistently uses hours instead of minutes, even when “Latest Start” notifications are enabled. • Forecast — Actions added to groups will no longer appear to be duplicates of the selected action. • Genmoji — Genmoji in notes can be copied and pasted more reliably, and use consistent spacing. • Genmoji — Genmoji in notes display in previews for unselected rows. Mac • Sync — Changes received from other devices are integrated more quickly. (The app still waits for a pause in editing, to avoid interrupting edits in progress.) • Defer Dates — Defer Date field in the Outline now immediately updates. • Forecast — Piano key date tiles at the top of the Outline highlight correctly when dragging an item across, rather than remaining purple. • Settings — Sync Settings load consistently, resolving an issue which could block editing of sync account settings. • Sync — Windows and tabs consistently restore when incorporating sync changes, resolving an issue which could unexpectedly close open windows or tabs. • Tips — Synced changes to the “Hide feature tips” setting immediately updates the checkbox on Mac, in addition to updating the setting.

All Platforms • Crashes — Fixed several crashes. • Genmoji — Genmoji will no longer be removed from pasted content when using Paste; Paste with Original Style continues to preserve Genmoji content. • Omni Automation — Added support for triggering a sync using Omni Automation. OmniFocus 4.5 introduces new and re-written Shortcuts actions, enhanced Spotlight results (with parity on all platforms), in-app tips and guidance for getting the most out of OmniFocus, improvements to Omni Automation, additional appearance and accessibility options for Mac, and a collection of bug fixes. Our new Shortcuts actions have been developed using the latest Apple technologies, with each action having a streamlined focus. This makes it easier to build new shortcuts, with a clearer sequence of actions, while enabling us to take advantage of future Apple releases. We have left legacy Shortcuts actions in place, to ensure that all your current shortcuts will continue working as expected, while exploring new possibilities in automation. This work continues, so please let us know what you think, if you run into any issues, or if you have any suggestions. All Platforms • Genmoji — Added support for Genmoji in the notes field, when supported by the operating system. Please note that syncing notes containing Genmoji to earlier versions of OmniFocus can result in errors; updating to v4.5 on all your devices will provide a more consistent experience. • Omni Automation — Added support for new `omnifocus:///project/` URLs. Using Copy as Link will continue to provide `omnifocus:///task/` URLs for projects, to maintain compatibility with earlier versions of OmniFocus; this will change in a future release. See OmniFocus: Release Notes in API Reference for more information. • Shortcuts — New and updated Shortcuts actions include Add Action (replaces Legacy: Add Item); Add TaskPaper; Complete Action (new!); Complete Project (new!); Find Actions (replaces Legacy: Find Items); Find Folders (new!); Find Projects; Find Tags; Get Action, Get Folder, Get Perspective, Get Project, and Get Tag (using Copy as Link, and replacing Legacy: Get Database Object Result from Input); Get Actions from Perspective (new!); Open Action, Open Folder, Open Perspective, Open Project, Open Tag (replaces Legacy: Show in OmniFocus); and Today’s Forecast (with added support for due, deferred, tagged, and flagged actions). Find Actions and Find Projects are in beta; please read their descriptions regarding limitations. Previous Shortcuts actions now include Legacy: in the title and summary, along with suggestions for replacement actions. • Spotlight — Enhanced Spotlight results are now available on all platforms, and include actions, action groups, projects, folders, tags, default perspectives, and custom perspectives. • Tips — Helpful tips and guidance will display, as you use OmniFocus. • Shortcuts — App Shortcuts-related crashes have been fixed. Mac • Accessibility — Color palette options now include a black background, for increased contrast. • Appearance — Added support for custom fonts, along with a list of Omni-selected system font options, and an updated slider which supports a wider range of sizes (from 9 to 42 point). When choosing a custom font, we recommend using a Regular style, which allows OmniFocus to provide the same style-based context (such as action groups being presented in bold) as when using the default fonts. • Spotlight — Spotlight results on Mac now match those available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. • Appearance — Appearance settings pane has been re-written in SwiftUI, to support future cross-platform improvements. • Writing Tools — Make Table is restricted for notes on Mac, as the note fields on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro do not support tables. • Localization — Corrected several Japanese localizations in the Inspector.
