New features - Added support for iPhone Duo. - On iPhone, the app now works in landscape too. - Trakt import now includes your watchlist, with the movies and shows you haven't watched yet. - You can now share your Year in Review in story format. Improvements - More reliable backups. An interrupted backup is never offered for restore, and trying to restore a file that isn't a backup leaves your library untouched. If a restore fails, your library goes back to how it was. The backups screen shows the iCloud upload status of each backup and the status of the automatic backup. - CSV exports of your whole library now follow your chosen sort order too. Bug fixes - A movie's release date is now its first release date, both in search and on the movie's page. Previously, it was the date in your country, which could differ by years. - Trakt import: shows you are still watching keep their progress instead of being marked as fully watched. - IMDb import: a rated episode is marked as watched on its own, with its rating, instead of marking the whole show as watched. If you rated both an episode and its show, the episode no longer gets an extra watch. - TV Time import: movies you followed or added to your watchlist are no longer imported as watched, watched movies no longer get an extra watch, and watch dates no longer move to the next day. - Dates with a two-digit year in imported files, such as 16.12.24, are now read correctly. - The PDF of your whole library lists every space in alphabetical order, across as many pages as needed, and counts each title once. Titles follow your chosen sort order, and titles not in any space come last, under Backlog. - Exporting from a list, such as a space, a tag, or an actor, now includes only that list, and the file is named after it. Previously, it exported your whole library. - On iPad, making a window narrower no longer closes what you had open. - On iPad and Mac, deleting a tag, space, or filter now also closes its list next to the sidebar. - On Mac, a window that opened while the app was in the background no longer appears without its buttons. Bug fixes - Sorting directors and actors. In the lists of directors and actors, and in Shortcuts, some surnames landed in the wrong place: Johnson before Johns, Dawson before Daws. A surname now always comes before longer ones that start the same way, apostrophes are ignored (O'Brien after Obama), and a hyphen counts as a space. - Titles with apostrophes and hyphens. When sorting by title, apostrophes are now ignored and a hyphen counts as a space: "Ocean's Eleven" comes after "Oceania", and "Spider-Man" sorts as "Spider Man". The new order is applied automatically the first time you open the app after updating. They are never applied on their own: you decide. - A switch in Settings to turn the Apple Intelligence features on or off. - Many actions for Siri and Shortcuts, which also understand the movie, show, episode, or collection on screen. You can ask for a year's statistics, the actors and genres you watched the most, and upcoming releases, and get your content as an image, a PDF, or rich text. - Your movies and TV shows in Spotlight search, in system suggestions, and in the widget Smart Stack. - Export a movie, a show, or a collection as PDF, and share ratings and watches as an image, a PDF, or text. - Importing rebuilt from the ground up: Movie Tracker recognizes the file, shows you row by row what will happen, and can update the movies and shows you already have. - Watch year recap. In Statistics you can generate a written summary of your year in movies and TV shows. It is created using Apple Intelligence, Apple's privacy-conscious technology. - Tag suggestions. When you assign tags to a movie or a TV show, the app can suggest existing ones that fit it, based on its title and description. Suggestions are never applied on their own: you decide. - Apple Intelligence setting. Settings now includes a switch to turn the Apple Intelligence features on or off. - Siri and Shortcuts integration. Movie Tracker offers many actions for Siri and Shortcuts, with improved integrations. You can automate your movie and TV tracking and get your content (ratings, watches, actor and director filmographies, collections) as an image, a PDF, or rich text. You can also search and filter more precisely, for example by watch date, release date, runtime, rating, or favorites. - Recaps and statistics with Siri and Shortcuts. You can ask for summaries and figures about your watching: a year's statistics, movies or shows by watch status, the actors and genres you watched the most, upcoming releases and new episodes, or a comparison between two years. - Spotlight search. Your movies and TV shows appear in the system Spotlight search, so you can find and open them quickly from outside the app. - Suggestions to keep watching. The show you are currently watching can appear in the widget Smart Stack and in system suggestions, so you can jump back in quickly. - Siri and Shortcuts understand what is on screen. You can use Siri or a shortcut to act on the movie, show, episode, or collection you are currently viewing. - Export and sharing. You can export a movie, a show, or a collection as PDF, and share a rating or a watch as an image, a PDF, or text. - A new way to import from another app. Importing has been rebuilt from the ground up. Choose the file the other app gave you and Movie Tracker works out which app wrote it and what is inside; if it does not recognize it, you say which column holds what, and the app fills in most of that for you. Before anything is written you see, row by row, what will happen: what is coming in, what looks like a movie or a show you already have, and what stays out. At the end you get a summary you can keep, and any rows that could not be imported come back as a file with your own columns plus one explaining why, so you can fix those rows and import just them. - Update the movies and shows you already have. Importing is no longer only about adding. When a movie or a show in your file is already in your library, you choose whether to fill in only what is missing or let the file replace what you had written. You can decide for every row at once, or change your mind on a single row. - More forgiving library search. When you search the movies and shows already in your library, the search now ignores case, accents, and punctuation, so you can find a title even when you type only part of its name or leave out accents. - Improved title sorting. Alphabetical order is more consistent and ignores case and accents, and you can choose to ignore leading articles (The, A, …). If anything ever looks out of order, a new "Repair search and sorting" option in Settings rebuilds the data used to search and sort. This is the first major update of the year for Movie Tracker. It introduces several new features, along with a number of improvements and fixes that make the app more stable and enjoyable to use.
