Other have described what an amazing app this is and how useful it is to photographers. That’s true. I use it when I travel and am taking photos to help me keep track of the different types of light in the day. I find this especially useful with landscapes, when I find a really pretty spot and want to know when to come back for that great golden hour light. But that’s not why I’m writing this review. I run or walk every day and use the Lumy complication on my Apple Watch so I always know when sunrise or sunset is. That lets me get up at the right time or get home from work in time. When I updated to WatchOS 10, everything changed, and I emailed the developer to ask what had happened. He was incredibly responsive, released a minor update to address my problem, then talked me through the settings to get it just right. How often to you get that kind of support these days? I am so impressed.

Everyday I work a late shift for work and happen to miss the sunset and golden hours because of my schedule. Now that I have this app I am able to know when it’s sundown and golden hours and take breaks accordingly so I can see the last light each day with the notifications feature in this app. Thank you for making this app. I like that there is an Apple Watch app version too which gives me notifications on my wrist. I also use the watch face on my Apple Watch and I have this app as a widgets on my phone next to my weather widgets. I love this app truly. I would like to know more about moon phases in this app or even have notifications about the moon phases each day. That would be a feature I would like to see. Glad this app is only a one time fee. Also I really like the app logo and design please do not change it. I like how this app looks like Apples native weather app.

I’ve been using Lumy for nearly 5 years and it is by far the best sun tracking app available. It has come a long way since its inception, now offering various tools like the sun arc, showing its position in the sky relative to time, the sun compass showing its position relative to the phone holder, new time details like daytime and nighttime durations as well as widgets for your Home Screen. This of course on top of all the old features that have been polished to fit the new UI and general design. This app is super simple and ultra customizable. Once you set your location, you can then select which light periods you want to see and even what your app icon looks like! There is also integration for Apple Watch 4 and newer. I have an Apple Watch 3 so I don’t get to take advantage of this yet but hopefully soon. There are various Watch Faces/Complications you can add to your Watch via the Lumy App!I look forward to the future of Lumy. It is an invaluable tool for photographers, whether I’m shooting a portrait session or going out for another attempt at the Milky Way, Lumy has been there for me! Try it out for yourself and you’ll see! No app is perfect but this one definitely deserves 5 stars for ease of use, design, and features. One wish:I wish there was a sun compass widget for iPhone. That would look sick on the Home Screen and would be super useful!

- Made for iPhone Duo. Check the sun one-handed on the outer display, or open it up and your day spreads across the larger inner display, the sky on one side and your sun times on the other. The sky even moves as you open and close iPhone Duo.
- Meet Glance. Turn your iPhone on its side, or prop iPhone Duo up on your desk, and Lumy becomes a quiet light display: the live sky edge to edge, a large countdown to the next sunrise, golden hour or sunset, with the date and your place in the corners. Tap the eye to keep the screen on while you watch.
- Meet the Sun Planner. Pick any day and drag through it to see where the sun will be and which way shadows will fall. Turn on Compass and the shadow dial turns with your iPhone to match the world around you. Or hold up your iPhone to see the sun's path in the real sky, with golden hour and sunset marked right where they'll happen. On iPhone Duo, the sky and the shadow dial each get their own side.
- Various fixes and UI polish.
Thanks a lot for all the love and your wonderful feedback.

- Make the Quick Access Menu your own by reordering modes... the first three are always at your fingertips.
- The new Season widget now lets you choose between astronomical or meteorological seasons.
- Updated widgets and app icons now match the new home screen's tinted and clear styles.
- And many thoughtful refinements across the app.
Foundation Model Features (iOS 26 + iPadOS 26)
- Mode-Specific Weather Insights: Smarter, activity-aware tips.
- State of Mind Suggestions: Personalized, context-aware guidance that adapts to your state of mind log.
- Astronomical Events: Tailored explanations that transform solar events into relevant insights for Photography, Hiking, Mindfulness, or Travel.
- Review System: A simple thumbs up/down or alternative request helps refine future insights, while keeping all data private on your device.
On Apple Watch
- Experience the new Liquid Glass design on your wrist.
- Quickly enable or disable sun event notifications right from Control Center.
- Add a configurable Season complication for astronomical or meteorological seasons.
- Added support for the latest iPhone 17 Series, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3.

A quiet update, with care in the details.
New
- The "Calculate Photographic Times" Shortcut action now returns the time as Text instead of just showing, so you can use it the way you want. Thanks to the user who wrote in about this.
- A small moment of delight, added to the About section. You'll find it :)
Bug Fix
- Location names now show as the city you'd actually say out loud, not coordinates or a region.
- And various UI/UX enhancements with bug fixes for a smoother experience.

2026.1.9 5月3日
A quiet update, with care in the details.
New
- The "Calculate Photographic Times" Shortcut action now returns the time as Text instead of just showing, so you can use it the way you want. Thanks to the user who wrote in about this.
- A small moment of delight, added to the About section. You'll find it :)
Bug Fix
- Location names now show as the city you'd actually say out loud, not coordinates or a region.
- And various UI/UX enhancements with bug fixes for a smoother experience.
Previously,
Lumy's OS 26 update is designed to feel lighter, smarter, and more in sync with daily life.
On iPhone and iPad
- Discover the new Liquid Glass design: UI elements feel gently illuminated, carrying a subtle echo of sunlight.
- New Peek Panel: A lightweight element that quietly shows simple info like "Moon above horizon." It fluidly expands to reveal more detail, such as "Sets in 20 min" when you need it, fading back automatically. Designed to balance presence and absence, it keeps information accessible without overwhelming the interface.
- A refreshed Bottom Bar with Quick Access Menu that morphs naturally with interaction, making it faster to switch modes or jump around the app.
