Hermex is a native iPhone and iPad client for your self-hosted Hermes agent. Connect to a reachable Hermes Web UI server, or enable the optional Bot Mode beta to connect directly to a Hermes agent host.
Open existing sessions, start conversations, and follow streamed responses, tools, and reasoning as they arrive. Queue, steer, or stop an active run. Review file edits as diffs, browse workspace files, send photos and files, and dictate messages.
Manage Kanban boards and cards, browse Tasks, Skills, Memory, and Usage, and choose models, profiles, and reasoning settings. Bot Mode adds a Bots inbox, Desktop sections, reactions, quick replies, approvals, questions, and group rooms.
Live Activities keep working runs visible on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Optional notifications let you know when work finishes or needs your attention. The share extension stages content from other apps for you to review and send.
Agent execution happens on your configured server, not on the iPhone. Your server owns your conversations, tools, and workspace. Recent sessions and messages may be cached locally for read-only offline viewing; clear that cache from Settings.
There is no Hermex-hosted agent backend, tracking, or analytics service. Optional push notifications use an open-source, self-hostable relay. Message previews are encrypted on your Hermes host and decrypted on your iPhone; the relay handles device tokens, notification metadata, and ciphertext, never message text, server URLs, or Hermes server credentials. Push is off until enabled.
Hermex has no in-app account creation or in-app purchases. You need your own reachable Hermes server.

Yup. It works quite well. Never know if reviews on AI-related apps are real or not, but the positive reviews for this one are legit. UI is fast and satisfying and doesn’t feel like a PWA or webview. One thing I do currently wish it had was the ability to browse to a different working folder to open a chat/session in. From what I can tell, every chat/session opens in my default workspace folder (~/.hermes-playground) and I don’t see a way to change the path / create a new dir for the session when starting it. Minor gripe though. So far, so good.
Chat doesn’t work with a native Hermes install

Hermex worked great when Hermes was in a Docker. I now run Hermes self-hosted, not through the Docker web UI. Hermex can't chat against that setup — it needs the old web UI's session API, and a native install doesn't expose it. Everything else (session browsing) works fine; chat just never connects.I tried to work around it by standing up the Docker web UI alongside my native install so Hermex would have the API it wanted. That corrupted my session database — not once, but repeatedly, because the two were writing to the same session file at the same time. I eventually had to lock that path down entirely and go back to a browser-based workaround instead of the app.Is there a supported way to point Hermex at a native Hermes backend, or a plan to add one? I'd like to use the actual app again — I just can't risk the database corruption to do it.
Just Amazing

Runs flawless, even works on my iPad. Very professionally designed. I don’t get why this isn’t all over X. Even if / when Hermes comes out with an official mobile app, can’t think of a reason to move. I was just trying to think of features it didn’t implement, I haven’t found any yet. I was thinking no way would this support multiple servers but there it was in settings!

Glad you're enjoying it!
solid app with easy setup

I installed Hermes on my iPhone and was able to easily connect it to my Windows desktop native install of Hermes Agent, as well as a remote Hermes Agent running on a Linux box. This couldn't have been easier; it worked right out of the box. I felt compelled to drop a review because the developer really deserved it. Really appreciate your work on this!
App lock: turn on Face ID / passcode lock in Settings.
Files: open a PDF or Office documents in app
Chat settings: try "dismiss keyboard after sending"
Live Activities improvements. (tap completed activity to dismiss)
Bot Mode (beta): password-vault and 2FA prompts, replying in room threads, and adding a Hermes host as its own server.
