I’ve been making recipes from The Guardian for years (especially those by Meera Sodha) and I’m really excited about this new app! I immediately came here to write a review when I saw the account > settings > toggle on/off option to “hide meat-based recipes on your homepage.” Thank you so much for recognizing that this could make or break a user’s experience with the app. I am thrilled that I can open the app without dreading what I might see!
The Feast Recipes
Like Brit foods-economical
I’m an American who appreciates the honesty and Integrity of The Guardian and Feast is free with my monthly payment. I am a very good cook and baker, but I would make very few of the very British recipes with so many ingredients that would not be readily available in stores and probably very expensive from online sources. Can’t be just the US that’s in a groceries crunch right now. Wishing you would have more American friendly and basic recipes. And dishes that don’t take forever to prepare. Don’t people amongst The Guardian subscribers have jobs to be tired when they get home to have less arduous to prepare recipes that can be ready to eat before midnight?

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. In the past few months, we've introduced lots of new American-based cooks who are developing quick and easy midweek recipes with American ingredient pack sizes and readily available ingredients in mind. This month we'll also release some specifically budget-friendly recipes, too, so do look out for those.
Well designed recipe app
Fastspider
Six month free trial for Guardian subscribers. The filters allow specifying gluten and dairy free recipes and when both were set about half of the recipes were still available. The recipes themselves look good and the layout is nice and clear. I also liked the UK to US translation popup that explains the different names for some ingredients. The free recipe app I was using before is getting more and more adverts so I’m going to delete it and switch to this.
A little difficult for old eyes
Il machinista
The app is a welcome addition for anyone interested in British recipes. One unfortunate aspect is how the app does not allow recipes to fit your screen, so the writing is too small to read. I’m using an a iPad Pro in landscape mode, and text is too small to be easily legible. Printing a recipe is not possible from the app, either. (Who wants to bring expensive electronic equipment into the kitchen where accidents can and do happen. Hopefully the Guardian will fix this poor engineering in an update, otherwise, I’ll eschew the app for the Guardian’s webpage.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback about the Feast app. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.Printing a recipe is available by tapping the 'More' icon in the top right-hand corner of the opened recipe. The 'More' icon is represented by three squares in a horizontal line. It's possible to increase the font size in your iPad's accessibility settings. If you require assistance with that, please email our support team at feast.feedback@theguardian.com, and they'll be happy to help.
- You can now toggle ingredient names between UK and US terms (aubergine ↔ eggplant, courgette ↔ zucchini, and more).
- You can now search within your MyFeast collections.
- "App Exclusive" recipes are now clearly marked.
