One of our favourite apps for learning another language, the process is genuinely fun. What’s more, all those languages and games are available for free!

Duolingo is the best! I don’t know why people say not to use it and it doesn’t let you learn anything when it is amazing! I used it for French and I learnt soooooooo many stuff! I also sucked at chess but now I win everyone at it, even pros. Maths is also very helpful, considering I am in Year 6. Please use it. You will love it very much! Though, there is one thing that I don’t like, which is how there is an amount of energy but before you had hearts. I think it should be just unlimited as people deserve to learn a language as long as it is unlimited because it is not fair, and if that is not possible, I would want the hearts to come back at least! But otherwise, it is amazing!

Not hyped about the new matching pair exercise!

The way the Matching Pairs exercise has been pushed to the place of prominence among the timed activities is suboptimal. The activity is monotonous and is limited in its scope, compared to classic timed exercises which would include a variety of different exercises ranging from vocabulary to working with sentences. Of course matching pairs exercise is a fun addition overall, but again, it becomes monotonous fast, and given that this exercise is FORCED upon users for 4 days straight, it outright pushes the user (me) away from using the app. And the fact that higher levels there are outright broken to the point where (intentionally?) users are forced to buy power ups, doesn’t make the case better for it. Reduce the time that this exercise features in the app!PS: Arabic language lessons have a lot of sound errors/ mistakes, and my reports have gone unheeded for a while.

Our mascot owl, Duo, is trading in his usual diet of mice for bugs this week. Yup, we’re squashing those pesky bugs to make the experience better for all of you. For more Duolingo news, contests and product releases, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @duolingo.
