Fancy yourself as a modern-day Chopin or perhaps the new Elton John? Simply Piano will have you stroking the keys like a maestro in no time.

All it takes is a few minutes’ practice a day to get you performing like a pro, and beginners are (very) welcome. Before long you’ll be reeling off tunes at top tempos and grooving out at the baby grand with your eyes closed.

Whether you’re a beginner or pro, the app will be your personal piano teacher.

Want to do an Adele and “Set Fire To The Rain”, or perhaps holler out a bit of Whitney’s “I Will Always Love You”? Perhaps you’d rather work on your “Poker Face” in an ode to Lady Gaga, or try crooning along to stadium anthem “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran?

Simply Piano has everything from karaoke classics (see: The Proclaimers, “I’m Gonna Be”) to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – not to mention 5,000 plus other songs. You won’t run out of inspiration any time soon.

Simply Piano takes you through the basics step by step.

When Simply Piano says it’s beginner-friendly, it’s not kidding. Can’t read music? No problem. Lessons start small, teaching you the basics of notation, keys and finger placement, first with one hand and then two.

Take each class as slowly as you like, mastering finger placement and rhythm before you start working on your sight-reading. But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean endless renditions of “Mary Had A Little Lamb”. Even early on, you’ll be taking on pop songs and Disney classics. All together now: “Let it gooooo!…”

Pick your path

The question is: are you a Rihanna-on-the-rise or a Beethoven-in-training? After you master the basics, it’s time to pick your musical path. You could start learning those major and minor chords that work so harmoniously with pop songs – and set yourself on the way to stadium superhero.

Alternatively, you could master the art of sight-reading, grab the sheet music and polish those technical skills in order to prepare for concert-hall glory.

Pressed for time? The 5-Min Workout is the perfect way to fit your practice session in.

The trick to mastering anything, be it the piano, a penalty kick or the perfect cross-court serve, is to practise little and often. And that’s the name of the Simply Piano game: you’ll get a nudge to check in daily to ensure you’re putting the hard work in.

Busy day? There’s no getting off that easy: even five minutes can make a difference and Simply Piano has a short practice session called the 5-Min Workout, as well as short-and-sweet lessons to keep you in tune with your musical journey.
