Plus, improved widgets, new customisation options, and plenty of refinements and bug fixes across the app. USER INTERFACE: • Designed by the Iconfactory, Play’s new icon brings a vibrant, elegant look to your Home Screen. • A new tab bar on iPhone provides direct access to Library, Subscriptions, and Search. • Video details come to life with custom themes inspired by each video, paired with the translucent beauty of Liquid Glass. • The app now supports iPhone Duo and makes better use of the available screen space in landscape layouts. • Localisation has been expanded, with more languages, consistent terminology, and improved pluralization. • Video context menus now include actions to rate videos and add/edit notes. • When Apple Intelligence can’t process a video’s content, you can now request a concise summary or export the transcript to another AI app. • Smart Searches are now called Collections. • Search now starts in the list you’re viewing, making results more relevant right away, with an option to switch back to searching everywhere. The search filters have also been redesigned to be easier to scan and adjust. • Fixed an issue where Play would fail to fetch metadata for TED talks.

• Play now appears in more places in the iOS share sheet, making it easier to save videos and links from other apps. • Fixed an issue on iOS 18 where creating a bookmark during video playback could fail.

• New gesture! Swipe up on the currently playing YouTube video to enter full screen. • Search results can now be narrowed to a specific tag, making it easier to find the exact saved videos you’re looking for. • The Manage Videos view in Settings can now also filter results by a specific tag. • Shortcuts: Ability to choose a tag folder when creating a tag via the Create Tag action, and it also returns a deep link to the new tag.

• All video lists now support continuous in-app playback, so you can watch videos in sequence without leaving Play. • Transcripts can now be kept in sync with video. • Added the ability to copy a channel’s “all uploads” playlist URL, which you can use to import every video from that channel. • Added YouTube account connection status in Settings, so you can immediately see whether your YouTube account is signed in or not.
