Jitney Service Program
Ridership on the Glen Ridge Jitney has never recovered to more than 40% of its pre-pandemic volume. The Mayor and Council are actively pursuing grant opportunities and conducting a thorough evaluation of the municipal jitney operations. Glen Ridge’s jitney program will continue to operate in its current format through December 31st. There will be no immediate changes to routes, schedules, or service levels. We recognize how important the jitney is to members of our community, and we are committed to keeping residents informed.
How does it work?
The shuttle buses operate to and from the Ridgewood Avenue Train Station Monday through Friday and will make stops throughout the Borough.
Where does it stop?
The program has two shuttle buses, the North End Jitney and the South End Jitney. The Jitneys will run in loops through each neighborhood.
What does it cost?
- Monthly Card
- $30.00 per month (must be renewed monthly)
- 10 Trip Book
- $25.00 (no expiration date)
- One Way Trip
- $4.00 (exact change only)
How do I purchase Cards/Trip Books?

Evening Drop Off
The evening shuttle buses will wait for the train to arrive and drop off passengers at the same locations as the morning pick up. The shuttle buses will depart from the Ridgewood Avenue Train Station at 4:18, 4:58, 5:21, 5:53, 6:01, 6:24, 6:41, 6:59, 7:14 and 7:50.
Holiday Schedule
There will be NO Jitney Service on the following dates:
New Year’s Day – Thursday, January 1, 2026
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Monday, January 19, 2026
Presidents’ Day – Monday, February 16, 2026
Memorial Day – Monday, May 25, 2026
Independence Day (observed) – Friday, July 3, 2026
