Where Computing Research Leaders Meet to Shape the Future

The CRA Summit — formerly known as the CRA Conference at Snowbird — is the premier annual convening for computing research leadership across academia, industry, and government. Designed for department chairs, school heads, deans, lab and center directors, and other senior leaders, the CRA Summit provides a unique forum for strategic discussion and cross-sector collaboration at a pivotal moment for the field.

Beginning in 2025, the CRA Summit will be held annually, alternating between two distinct formats:

  • Odd-numbered years will focus on a single timely theme that cuts across research, education, and workforce development.

  • Even-numbered years will feature a multi-track format addressing a broad range of issues, reflecting the diversity and complexity of the computing research enterprise.

Through forward-looking sessions, peer learning, and facilitated dialogue, the CRA Summit equips participants to lead effectively in an era of rapid technological and societal change.

What to Expect

  • Insightful Dialogue – Engage in strategic conversations around emerging challenges and national priorities shaping the future of computing research.
  • Cross-Sector Collaboration – Connect across academic institutions, industry research labs, and government agencies to identify shared goals and partnership opportunities.
  • Leadership Network – Build relationships with a strong network of computing research leaders from across North America.
  • Field-Shaping Participation – Help guide the direction of the computing research community through meaningful exchange and collective visioning.

Participation is open to leaders at CRA member institutions, with priority access given to units that renew their membership for the upcoming Membership Year. Early renewal also allows units to apply for additional attendee spots.
