PTV launches digital network
PEOPLE’S Television (PTV) launched its new 62 channel digital network this week which bosses described as “a long time coming.”

Scores of residents have already signed up to the popular TV company’s new service, which is available across Providenciales and in parts of North Caicos.

CEO Peter Stubbs told the Weekly News that to sign up to the network customers will have to either buy or rent a set top box at a cost of $65 or $5 per month.

Then customers can choose a variety of packages that will be offered at a fraction of the cost of rival cable network WIV.

The proud network chief claimed that PTV will also more reliable and provide a lot more choice.

Mr Stubbs said that the network will expand even further over the coming months.

He hopes to eventually reach Grand Turk and South Caicos and provide a whopping 100 channels.

This Wednesday PTV connected up their first customer, Deserene Lewis of Long Bay, to the new network
Desrene said she was delighted with the service adding that it is “a blessing to have PTV.”

Mr Stubbs presented Desrene with a cheque for the cost of the set top box to thank her for being the first to sign up.

PTV8 began broadcasting officially on November 10, 2008 from its studio at Stubbs Diamond Plaza.

The station has steadily grown in popularity due to the cutting edge look and information delivered during its half hour news programme PTV News Watch on channel eight.

The news and programming team is led by veteran journalist Deandrea Hamilton and extensively trained video editor Enrico Angeles.

Company bosses are extremely proud of their affiliation with TropikTV out of South Florida.

This Creole-based network has allowed PTV News Watch to be broadcast in four major Caribbean populous cities outside of the islands including South Florida, New York, New Jersey and The Bahamas.

PTV’s motto is ‘A vision you can believe in’ and managing director of the company, Kay Stubbs is the key person marketing the vision to the masses.
